Mitchell berichtet an Holdernesse, Breslau 7. Februar (private):

Der König habe ihm am Tage vorher gesagt, „that he thought he had discovered his enemies' plan of opérations, viz. to attack him, King of Prussia, on all sides at the same time; but, added he, I must endeavour to disconcert their project striking a blow somewhere, though I am very sensible of the danger of my situation . . .

„When I mentioned the affair of Danzig,60-3 he said, he believed this news was true, that he would endeavour, if possible, to assist the town of Danzig.

„He then asked me if I had some news from Spain or Italy.61-1 I answered none.“
