CATALOGUE NOTE: An early letter by Frederick the great to his father. The years Frederick spent at Rheinsberg as Crown Prince were among the happiest of his life. It was at this period that he devoted himself to the study of literature and philosophy and began his correspondence with Voltaire.
Frederick thanks his father for the gift of some pheasants and informs him that his health was drunk in consequence, complains of a very strong wind the previous day when he was riding to Rupin and expresses the hope that it will not have spoiled his father's hunting, and announces that he is sending his father something from his menagerie.
