Mitchell schreibt an den Herzog von Cumberland, Dresden 15. April: „Sir. When I had the honour of delivering the King's letter to the King of Prussia,501-2 he expressed in the heartiest and strongest manner his approbation of the choice His Majesty had made of Your Royal Highness to command the army of observation.501-3 He said it was reserved for Your Royal Highness to save Germany; and I am empowered to assure Your Royal Highness that the King of Prussia will act in concert with Your Royal Highness in everything, and that, as soon as the situation of affaire can permit, he will give all assistance possible to the army under Your Royal Highness' command ...“
