10886. UNTERREDUNG DES KÖNIGS MIT DEM GROSSBRITANNISCHEN MINISTER MITCHELL.

Mitchell berichtet an Holdernesse, Landshut 21. April, er habe vergessen, in seinem letzten Bericht vom 15. April zu melden: „that His Prussian Majesty said to me one day, in a jocose manner: Would you believe I have been offering subsidies? I have proposed to the King of Denmark a subsidy for 10000 men;180-1 his ministers have met, consulted together and rejected the offer, as I expected; but still it has done no harm, — on the contrary, I think it has put them in better humour.

„Since we had the news of Prince Henry's success in Bohemia,180-2 His Prussian Majesty has told me that his intention was that those troops should march into Franconia, and there endeavour to attack and disperse the army of the Empire that is forming, which, at the same time, cannot fail to facilitate Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick's operations against the French, in case he should be so lucky to drive them back to Francfort, which has been reported here this day180-3 on the authority of a post-master ;180-4 but the King of Prussia has yet no account.“

Mitchell meldet an Holdernesse in einem zweiten Bericht vom 21. April: „His Prussian Majesty told me that his brother Prince Henry<181> had wrote to him that the différent magazines already fallen into his hands in Bohemia, were sufficient to have subsisted a considerable army for three months, and it is believed that the loss of these magazines must effectually suspend, at least for some time, the execution of the Austrian project of invading Saxony ...“
